The gauge of 500mm is a very common industrial gauge in Europe. It's equivalent is 20 inch gauge which was used in the US, England, and Australia. Mining equipment can be any number of gauges, but this includes 18", 22" 24", 30" and 42" gauge. I think the most uncommon gauges include 19" and 31". I don't recall any 23" gauge lines but the Welsh 22- 3/4" gauge lines are pretty unique.
