Re: Two WP&Y K-28s still surviving?

Over the years, the WP&YR buried several retired locomotives and an ex-Rio Grande Rotary as rip-rap along the Skagway River. A number of them, including the rotary, are partially exposed. One has been unearthed, and sits on its side in the Skagway Yard.

White Pass #60

I have looked at most of the exposed equipment up-close. I never saw anything resembling a K-28, and in my discussions of the buried engines with the White Pass Crews, there was never any mention of K-28s. So far as I know, those were all repatriated to the lower 48 after the war, and unfortunately scrapped.
