Coal availabe at Antonito, Embudo & Santa Fe according to D&RG 4th division TT # 102, 7/20/1919

Last train 9/1/1941, scrapping began within a week.

From D&RGW Branc LIne Report, September 1938.

loads of coal recieved by shippers, 1936:

Espanola 23
Taos Jct 1
Santa Fe 27 (13 consigned to Monero Fuel Co.)

loads of Coal rcvd, 1937:

Espanola 21
Taos Jct 3 (listed as 1 car each of coal, slack coal, nut coal)
Santa Fe 22 (8 to Monero Fuel Co.)

(breakdown by type not shown for other stations)

Data on Alamosa branch (Mears Jct- Alamosa) in the same report shows as Coal (Bitumious) overhead traffic as follows:

Bulkley Mine[1] to Taos Jct: 1 car 1936, 7 cars 1937
Bulkley Mine to Chamita: 3 cars '36, 13 cars '37
Bulkley Mine to Espanola: 2 cars '36, 4 cars '37
Bulkley Mine to Santa Fe: 2 cars '36, 6 cars '37

Crested Butte to Taos Jct: 1 car '37
Crested Butte to Chamita: 2 cars '36
Crested Butte to Santa Fe: 2 cars '37

Baldwin to Espanola: 7 cars '36, 6 cars '37
Baldwin to Santa Fe: 2 cars '36, 6 cars '37

Also listed as Westbound company material[2] was:

From Bulkley Mine to:
Tres Piedras: 22 cars in '36
Embudo: 45 cars in '36, 24 cars in '37
Santa Fe: 55 cars in '37

From Crested Butte to:
Tres Piedras: 26 cars in '36
Embudo: 128 cars in '36
Espanola: 25 cars in '36
Santa Fe: 180 cars in '36, 46 cars in '37

Sorry, the Alamosa-Chama line was not covered in the BLR (altough the Gunnison-Montrose line was, belying the reports title!) so I have no data on coal movement, company or other wise, from the Monero or Durango areas to points on the Santa Fe branch.

Hank

[1] Just south of Crested Butte.

[2] Exact nature of material not specified but given sources, I'd assume coal, just as I'd assume that the material bound from Espanola to Salida ( 685 cars in '36, 885 in '37) was probably ties going to the treatment plant...
