Jeff,
Your splitting hairs. You'll notice I put the Tuscan red color in quotation marks. I could have said rust, maroon or dark red. The coat(s) of red that Mike Davis removed were applied by myself, Dave Waltrip and Darrel Arndt back in 1982 when Rico was the property of the RMRRC and I was the RMRRC equipment chair. Top coat that we painted was KWAL lead based paint that
was close to the color that the RGS applied. Whole point of the post was to give my opinion the caboose should leave the numbers 1511 visible. The RGS also used any shade of paint they had on hand for repaints. No insult meant, but I doubt if your qualified to determine that the coat of paint we applied was the original Mineral red applied by the RGS. It wasn't. It was applied in 1982. The rest of Rico has been repainted twice along with the varnish top coat. Rico had the siding, belt rail, letterboard, both platforms and outer clerestory facing replaced over the last 33 years. The end sections were not replaced, but were repainted.
