Here in the USA there were standard gauge 2-8-0s built in the 1870-1900 period where the #1 & #3 drivers were blind. Even fewer where the #2 and the #4 were blind. By 1900 it was rather rare to see these odd arrangements as they were found to be sub-par at keeping the locos on the rails.
