Thanks for your comments. My reference to a "dingy" version of RGS 36 (ex-D&RG 93) was based on the one known photo. No fancy pinstriping, and the tender lettering is indistinct, as if somewhat grimy. Or perhaps the original 5"x8" glass plate was not of high quality.
I just spent a whole day helping the Markoffs (and their regular crew) run the Eureka in Boulder City for the Xmas holiday. Great folks and a wonderful time. Lots of gold (the-real-stuff) lettering and fancy pinstriping on the Eureka. How could we hope to compete with an 1875 locomotive that was in the movies, the last of which was also John Wayne's last movie? Maybe the later, less flashy RGS 36 appearance will differentiate us from the Eureka, Sonoma, and Emma. A "working class" locomotive, perhaps?
Years to go before we need to pick the paint scheme...
