Bruce,
Do you know how many riders the White Pass had last year? I was up there a few years ago and I believe they said 650,000 people got off the tour boats each summer and 295,000 of them road the train. I seem to remember a figure of 8 trains per day in each direction. That's big time railroading and the track bed showed it. There were long stretches where tie replacement had reached 100% with lots of fresh ballast.
Is there another tourist railroad anywhere that has that kind of ridershiip?
