Way up on the "Stink-o-meter" was The Legend of the Lone Ranger. It was filmed before I went to work there, but I remember I playing at the Chama Drive-in in 1980. I was REAL bad. I remember reading somewhere that the guy who played the L.R was so bad they had to get someone to redub all his lines after the filming was done.
I remember a few directors asking for less smoke after a couple of takes. I had to tell them the ugly truth that once the coal is in the firebox, I'm not shoveling it back out. Then there was the request for "white smoke" because the director saw that early that morning when things were cooler and the engine was still drying herself out. Of course the request came in the middle of the afternoon when it was 85 degrees out and the engine was well warmed up.
Hooray for Hollywierd.
