The Panel tracks we found were able to support the weight of the caboose as long as it did not get misaligned. If the Caboose began to wander, the flanges would climb the 'rail' and that's where we ran into issues. The Panels were primarily intended just for the short section in between the Town hall and the Fire station. The Town of Silver Plume did not want the Caboose on the ground there because their are Fiber optics buried under the road in that section. Also we had suspected the caboose would roll just fine on the road, but we needed a backup in the event that was not the case. So we were prepared to use the panels all the way if necessary. However we were all glad when we could just roll it on the ground.
The water damage in the roof was quite substantial. This summer we got a lot of rain, and the day of our first interior inspection there had been a heavy thunderstorm earlier in the day. When we inspected the interior, much of it was saturated. the only saving grace is the amount of paint inside, so much of the interior was protected from degradation. However we are fully anticipating replacement of the roof and the cupola.
We will be very interested to see more pictures of your model, if ever you need to come look at the real thing let us know, and we will be happy to arrange it, since 1006 has all original hardware.
