I have been told by reliable sources that there were 2 for the San Juan and only one for Shavano as it was an out and back service. After the San Juan wreck of 1948 the drumhead was damaged, and the Shavano drumhead was substituted after the abandonment of the Shavano.
Very good information. I wonder what ever happened to the damaged one as well as the others after abandonment of the San Juan. There are reports from my source that Ed Haley or Jack Thode had one. I wonder if it ended up at the Colorado Railroad Museum?
