Maybe, maybe not. When I first started desert camping in the early 1980's, the grade of the
Randsburg Railway was readily visible to the east of Hwy 395 for maybe 10 miles before it descended the slope to the ATSF connection. With the proliferation of inexpensive 4WD vehicles, the grade was ground into the ground by Y2K.
Whether the C&C grades suffer the same fate will mostly be a function of Nevada population growth.
