When Yvonne Lashmet & Rich Millard rode the #489 "Springtime" charter in May, 2010, they were so impressed with the west portal of Rock Tunnel that they convinced the D&S to execute a ninety-nine-year lease with the Bi-State RR Commission, and have arranged with a major contractor (NOT Helliburton) to carve out the entire tunnel as a single piece of granite and airlift it to Rockwood for installation on the D&S "Highline".
