Before all the 911 restrictions, I got to ride in a jump seat on an Amtrak San Diegan in push mode coming back to LA. My engineer told me he has hit 7 people on that route. There was a kid trying to beat the train when we were doing 90 by the beach and I almost got to be part of #8! Fortunately the kid realized he wouldn't make it and did a U turn at a full run. How do you spell relief.....
