Hi,
This makes a lot of sense.
I may not have been clear, but I was trying to get the the Chama-Osier-Chama passenger train set to meet the freight AND the Antonito-Osier-Antonito passenger train set to meet at least one freight using only three locomotives and three crews.
I can arrange a meet between the freight meeting one train set once or twice, but I was not able to get the freight to meet both train sets without allowing the freight to leapfrog ahead of the same passenger train to allow it to meet the passenger train set from the other end. With only two tracks at Osier, it was not easy for it to meet the passenger trains while they were on the lunch stop at Osier.
One passenger train set could pull into the Osier loop to allow the meet but I had a concern about the passengers wondering around the tracks at Osier.
It could be done but it is a dispatcher's or timetable creator's puzzle that is not easy - having all three trains meet each other.
I did not restrict the freight to starting at Chama - its just got a larger yard. Also I seemed to get caught up in assuming the Chama-Cumbres helper would become the freight train loco (not a requirement) - They would be out on the line already and could depart Cumbres before the Chama train set setting up a meet at Los Pinos. But the meet at Osier had me stuck. With the C&TS loop there, it would work, but I had been trying to have the meet with the Antonito Passenger train set out east of Osier. Backing a freight from Toltec or Sublet to Osier seems sub-optimal. If the loco could travel to the other end of the train and run in reverse then turn at Osier, it would be better.
Coming into Los Pinos, the passenger train could probably see the freight while it takes the siding.
At the long Toltec siding (assuming the track is good), the "westbound" freight could be rolling towards the passenger train while the passenger passes it.
Or the Passenger could overtake a moving eastbound freight before the freight loco moves to the other end of the freight for the move to Osier to turn the loco.
This is like a choreographer for a play or movie.
Thanks.
