This is why I chose "largest"
and not heaviest or most TE. Weight wise she is but a baby and similar for tractive effort, but at 108'+ she is the largest. I dont think you can include 4449's aux tender because it can and did run without it. A garratt is a operating unit as it is.
It is truely sad to see the state of UP steam at the moment - they seem to be in crisis. I dont recall a time when they didnt have an operational loco.
Congratulations to the restoration crew on this beauty, it is amazing what can be done with positive outlook and elbow grease. I hope I get the chance to see it in action "in the flesh" one day.
There is also a restoration project under way to return narrow gauge (3'6") AS Garratt G33 to steam, but unlike the 6029, that is marooned on a isolated tourist railway in Victoria - it was hopeful to have been finished last year, so cant be too far off)
