D&RGW AFE 1951, Approved 3-28-1949:
Description of Project: Remodel paint and stencil D&RGW narrow gauge
Locomotive No. 268 and 2 narrow gauge gondola freight cars Nos. 1241 and 1273; and paint & stencil only narrow gauge Business Car B-3; also
repaint and stencil D&RGW markings on 3 narrow gauge CB&Q cars consisting
of 1 coach & 2 gondolas. Work on D&RGW equipment to be done at Burnham
Shop. Painting and stenciling of CB&Q cars to be done at Chicago.
To provide equipment for operation in D&RGW narrow gauge train at Chicago
Railroad Fair this Summer. When equipment belonging to D&RGW is released from this assignment, it will be restored to original condition for return to service and the CB&Q cars will be turned back to the CB&Q railroad.

Provide stencil "DAVID MOFFAT" and "JOHN EVANS" to the two cars to be
painted at Burnham Shops Denver, Colo.
Provide stencil "HEBER C. KIMBALL" and "BRIGHAM YOUNG" to the two cars
to be painted by the Chicago Railroad Fair at Chicago, Ill.
(Unable to locate cards for 1241 and 1273 but believe these are the two cars eventually acquired by Mr. Ashby for "rider cars" on the GTL)

Retired 12-1956 AFE 4268 File 6180 Sold to Luria Bros. (Salida)
(one of 59 n.g. freight cars retired under this AFE)
D&RGW 1161:
Val. Card shows no retirement data but sources indicate the car still
around in 1970. As it does not show up on AFE 7575 it may have been
retained by the D&RGW at Durango.
