Tent caterpillars tend to come in wave cycles about every 7 years in the NW (Seattle area). I don't ever recall mention of them being an issue for the C&TS or Rio Grande before. Is this a new thing, or am I just oblivious to previous infestations and subsequent chatter ? Are they are thick this year as last ? There is a predatory wasp that lays a white egg on the head of the caterpillar that will ultimately wipe them out for a while. Are you see this white dot on the caterpillars' black heads ?
