GREAT shots of the #12!! Now I know about the time line she was
retired! I'm putting together a personel book of the history
of the Cooley , Cady Southwest Lumber Mills and the Ladder
Southwest Forrest Industries And the "old Apache Railway. I worked around Apache Railway crews
on the White Mountain Scenic Railroad first as a volunteer and then
as a summer seasonal employee for Reed hatch from 1967 to 1973 at
Mc Nary along with "Bob Dowty" my late father. I know very little
about the Flagstaff operation of SWLM and "Southwest". But I do
know that SM Lumber Co. was bought out by SWLM. But I believe in
my research wasn't SWLMs mill in Flagstaff, Flagstaff Lumber Cos
mill? And the line to Lake Mary abondoned when SWLM purchased
the Mill? Happy Jack was the original log camp south of Flagstaff
where SWLM and later SWFI hauled it's logs from? And Mormon Lake
it's last log camp?
I also get got some great two set CDs of the WMSRR including rare
builders photos of ex Sierra #36 from Reeds youngest son and the photos I have been waiting
for since 1967 , "The Last Trip to Maverick" photos ; Southwest
Forest Industries last logging railroad which was abondoned in
August of 1967. And Reed Hatch organized the last steam powered
"double headed" passenger train on September 9, 1967. I still have
two slide images coming of me on #36 taken at the Little Colorado
Water stop westbound and also taken at the Big Lake wye.
