The 473 ran light to Alamosa from Durango in the fall of 1968 after its work on ``Butch Cassidy...'' was done. It came back in December, pulling the 481 dead in consist.
The 483 also worked in the movies, doing ``The Good Guys and the Bad Guys'' about the same time that Butch Cassidy was filmed. It returned to Durango from the Chama area at completion of the film. It went east in November, pulling the National Park Service Special. Andy Payne was the engineer to Chama. In December it helped the 473 over Cumbres on the last westbound trip, returning the next day with the last D&RGW train over Cumbres.
The crew for the last trip was: conductor Harley Gilliland, engineer Carl Jack, fireman Stanley Smith, brakeman Dennis Cummins (T.J. Cummins' nephew.) Deadheading back were engineer Lee Otteson and fireman Jim Shawcroft.
