Coming out of the deep cut just below the top of Montgomery Pass you are treated to this incredible view:
Both the White Mountains to the left, and the Sierra Nevada straight ahead reach over 14,000 feet. The distant peaks are around 100 miles away. Too bad this part of the line did not last long enough to attract tourists...
