Why will the 346 have to be up and running before 318? Seems like the bottom knucklw on the steam dome flange should be an easier, quicker fix than two boiler courses.
Yes, I know that the 318 is literally a basket case, but if the museum is worried about an operational steamer, wouldn't they be money ahead to repair that which requires the least amount of expense overall? If I remember correctly, I saw the boiler of 318 being worked on almost 20 years ago when Dirk Ramsey started on it. Isn't it about time to finish this project?
