Just kidding about the four cabooses, John W.
The price for a caboose probably is not justified given the present situation. The tankcars, well, we'll let the powers to be figure that one out.
So, everyone get their bearings and let's get tanked in 2014!!
BTW, was looking thru my copy of Russ Reinberg's
The Narrow Gauge Annual 2012 and there are a number of photos in Mal Ferrell's article on the Fourth Division from Alamosa to Chama, yours included, that show a number of freight train consists with varying numbers of tankcars, from one to many, both eastbound and westbound. There is even one with two K-37's,
13 tankcars and caboose eastbound climbing Cumbres Pass (did some
light crude come out of Chromo?
).
That brings up a question that came to mind, anyone know what the lt wt difference is between the narrow frame and frameless tanks? Enough that if the whole consist was frameless, it would allow an additional car or two up the hill?
Can't say again how much I appreciate your sharing the photos you took back then, both here and in print.
Mark
