Well it's been awhile since I have done one of these. So here goes!
This week the goose if out of service for radiator repair. We sent the Radiator out to be re-cored because of a re-occurring leak. The goose also has a new drumhead.
The goose uses a modern radiator mounted behind the old Pierce arrow one.
This drumhead is similar to an old one we had in the shop.
So in order to maintain train service we have to run steam, but it's a very short one.
The consist is just the Chama, stockcar 9519, and caboose 0402. The train will be back to its normal length this weekend.
This is the shortest train we have operated for guests that I have seen.
Progress on 340 is slow, but still moving. We now have the material to make new studs for the distribution fitting in the smoke box.
We began removing the jacket to prepare her for ultrasound testing. Work began in the cab but has stopped because of some small amounts of suspicious insulation. Testing of that is being conducted. After that it should be smooth sailing for the rest of the Jacket removal(We know whats under the jacket outside the cab) and UT work.
Some of the remaining work yet to be done to 340 are
:replacing/re-installing all the plumbing in the cab. Some will be re-arranged.
:replacing the firebrick.
:re-installing the Y pipes, and Dist pipe and blast nozzle.
:modifying the petty coat.
:coating the inside of the tender tank.
That's whats going on at the farm.
