That is the root of the question. Since both bridges are essentially the same bridge, clearly the High Bridge on the D&S has been reinforced to allow the larger locomotives to cross over it.

I am trying to understand what changes were required to reinforce the High Bridge.

BTW The bridge John Palecki did in O scale is fantastic.
