"Rio Grande: Mainline of the Rockies" by Beebe & Clegg has a picture on pg 102 of the RGW at Soldier Summit, taken in 1900, which includes a stub switch. IIRC the RGW went to 70 lb rail when it standard gauged in 1889-90.

Also, according to "Rails that Climb" by Edward T. Bolinger pg 21 (CRRM reprint, 1979) DNW&P at least ordered stubs for it's (1904) branch line over Rollins pass and they were using 90 lb rail.
