Except that (except for #492) the K-37's have 1905 standard gauge 2-8-0 boilers vs more modern 1925 boilers on the K-36's

As noted above, John Bush is very knowledgeable about both classes of engines, and I'm sure he'll make a carefully thought out decision as to whether a K-37 is necessary in the long term, and - if so - which one.
And as to #483 no longer being available as a source of spare parts, as with most of the K-37's,
