Hello once more -
As on 10/19, except for those pics possibly of interest to historians and archeologists that
were shared on [
ngdiscussion.net], I didn't get many photos on 10/21 that are significantly
different from anyone else's. I do appreciate the huge effort that went into getting us all out
to Ferguson's Trestle before sunrise, though - an experience well worth getting up early for.
So, although my own efforts pale in comparison to the gallery-quality photographs posted by some of the professionals in the group, I did get a couple that will help keep my memories of the morning alive
:
This one MAY be a bit different, as I don't remember anyone standing nearby at the time
:
My favorite of the day has already been posted (see [
ngdiscussion.net]), and my attempts at the first run-by west of Big Horn turned out to be very mediocre - even when compared to my own #315 shots from 2008 & 2009
:
I tried to find the same spot from which the second of the above shots was taken, but as there was no photo line at all and a few of the riders had gone much farther up the hill there was no way to repeat the perspective with the curve behind the engine without being in someone else's way
...
For the second run-by I moved way down behind some bushes to the left; I'm posting this one mainly because I don't remember anyone else standing near - so at least it may be at least a little bit different
:
And finally - more than two years after our request for a run-by there with green-jacketed #489 was turned down - I was able to get a couple of photos of a train on the connector track at Lava. (How appropriate was it that the brakeman was wearing one of those souvenir 'Painted Lady' hats from 2010?)
* And WHO CARES about the RADIO?? ANYone who thinks this photo duplicates ANYthing from the D&RGW days really IS a Wild-Eyed Foamer - even the Kibbutz is a modern-day luxury parlor car in disguise
:
* SFAIK, it is NOT the one that John Cole lost during the round-table discussion on 08/31/10
