Hello, all -
This "dust-jacket" for my scrapbook is dedicated to my friend Alan Loomis,
in spite of whose yeoman efforts the Oktober
Extravaganza on the C&TS
turned out a bit more chaotic and frenzied than some of us expected

On Friday, 10/19, I didn't get any shots that the rest of my sixty-plus companions didn't, and as most of them were carrying much better cameras than my humble $500 Panasonic FZ-100, I haven't bothered to crop and attempt to touch them up. On Monday, though - due to a preliminary skirmish with Chief Mochte- (or Monte-) Zoo-Mah - I was alone on board the kibbutz as it backed down from Cumbres for the mid-morning run-by. Most of those shots were spoiled by dust and soot on the front window of the cupola, which fuzzed things at best and disoriented my camera's auto-focus at wurst. A few of them did turn out O-K, and since they're unique I'll share a couple of them here.
A cupola-eye's view as we crossed the highway while making up the train around 9:10 am. The
loaded pipe gons had to be left on the siding, as such are VERY rare on authentic eastbound re-enactment trains (except at Ferguson's Trestle on the evening of the following day

And about half and hour later - sans the gons - approaching the big curve at Coxo

Early in the afternoon, the eastbound passenger train met our charter at Los Piños siding

... After which there was a run-by from quite a ways down the valley. I took this shot over the shoulder of Ron Burkhart, who apparently went AWOL (or MIA?) later that evening. Judging by the jiggles, I must have pushed my little 25-600 mm zoom to its limit
