There were at least 4 boxcars on the ground in sunset around the turn of the century (1900) - two to the east of the wye, and 2 to the west. These all appear to be ex-UP (Colorado Central and DSP&P) cars. The C&N apparently aquired quite a few of these while their new Barney & Smith cars were on order. This photo shows 3 of cars on the ground at Sunset (the one shown with number 2 is hidden behind the C&N boxcar). The only one where I've seen a car number is number 2 in the photo, which was DSP&P/DL&G #24152 after the UP re-numbering, and I believe was DSP&P #608 originally. If this was indeed #608, it got moved to Cardinal after the Eldora extension was built, and is now in Como. I think the one that survived in Sunset into the 1960s is one of the cars to the west (3 or 4). I started spending time in Sunset in late 1975, and I'm fairly sure it was gone well before then.
