Okay first off, I can't control not being over 18 to volunteer! Bet you didn't think of that! I've offered to help the Fillmore and Western Railroad and I did get my parents to donate small amounts of money to the restoration of their 2-8-0 #14. My parents are VERY stubbord and aren't willing to drive me places and my VW bug that I'm restoring isn't done yet and my parents use their cars during the day SO I have no way to get from point A to B. The money I save goes into my business and hobby of rebuilding HO scale locomotives not only for me but for other people. True railroading in real life and model railroading are vastly different, doesn't mean I don't work my A$$ off on my layout and clients engines. I've taught myself how to machine new footboards, screws, and coupler pockets by myself! I also both learned and taught myself to rebuild engines and people twice to 3 times older than me are amazed and they NEVER disrespect me like you sir. I'm known in this line of work for being able to take any basket case HO engine and turn it into a work of art. My point is I work hard on the things that I can do! Forgive me for my parents not willing to drive me an hour+ away for me and forgive me for my 72 VW bug needing an engine rebuild by me and my dad! I've asked multiple railroads how old must you be to volunteer, and most say if under 18 you need a parent volunteer there for supervision and I'm pretty sure if my parents aren't going to drive me to the railroad they won't want to stay and monitor me. My family is a huge string of hard workers! You better believe that when I'm 18 I will start signing up for volunteering but for now you'll just have to wait like I do! Lastly as I said, I don't care if the Jennie K isn't restored!! Read the last message I wrote, if they decided to fund the project then I wish them the best of luck, if not I won't shed a tear, throw any chairs or even say "but" because it's not a big deal. It's not like I'm saying "hey lets restore a big boy!" I don't go that far away from reality. With me I am always kind and willing to give someone a hand or tell them how to adjust or repair something but I never disrespect them or give them attitude. You ought to take the time to respect the younger generation and kindly inform them of the way things work around here, like Bruce, see the way he replied to me? That's the exact way it should be!
SouthPark, that was a good way of wording it thanks! The above is directed towards Mike.
