Jeff is correct. Don Shank and I purchased the RGS 256 with the plan of restoring it in Como and using it has part of our operation on a small portion of the C&S that is being recreated in Como. However, neither Don's nor my finances are up to the task and the SPRS currently has far more pressing tasks then helping to rebuild an RGS coach. So, Don and I agreed that it was time to send the 256 to a better home where it could get the care and attention that it deserves.
We had a couple of offers on the RGS 256. One of the offers just wanted the 256 for parts. That was NOT going to happen even if it was the highest offer. The CRRM was my first choice but as Jeff mentioned, it was not to be. In the end, the D&S made a proposal that looked like the best possibility to see the 256 restored to operation and allow the guys from the GGHS, Don and myself to someday ride in this RGS coach. Also, an added benefit was that we were sending the 256 back to RGS territory. So that felt good.
