That was a good write-up by Ms. Heide, and thanks, Chris, for posting the link.
Any return to operation of the 169 is a long, long ways away, but IMO, it never hurts to plan. Please keep in mind that the locomotive and the B-1 belong to the Alamosa County Economic Development Corporation/Alamosa Chamber of Commerce, and anything pertaining to the 169 must be done in co-operation with those organizations.
Jeff brings up a good point on the economics of restoring and operating the 169. The financial aspects are items for future discussion(s), but in the meantime - and as Chuck Proudfoot mentioned at the city council meeting - over 9,000 volunteer hours have been donated to the 169 effort, with 400+ hours coming just this year.
A narrow-gauge line to Hooper? You sure wouldn't have to worry about super-elevation!
