Last week I drove from Phoenix to Colorado Springs and back. I have never seen it so dry in 47 years of being in this area. On the trip up we encountered a very heavy rain and hail storm near Springer and east of Philmont. On the way back the fire near Philmont was even more massive and the rain had no effect.
The same was true for northern New Mexico and Arizona, its a 100 year drought and getting worse every day. People are at wits end and are accepting the fire danger in terms of not if but when and how close. Emotions are high and the political climate is testy.
