The posting on KFLH that the intent of the Forest Supervisor for the Carson National Forest to close the Forest will affect the Antonito side of the railroad is correct.
What is only speculative at this time is that this action could possibly affect the Chama side. To date we have not received word of any dissatisfaction from Rio Grande NF with the fire prevention measures now in effect.
I have heard that the Taos FS office was inundated with calls today. The result will be a further meeting. Stay tuned.
As to the Forest Service’s authority to make its closure order effective as against the railroad, the Commission has requested legal counsel from the Attorneys General of both states.
