B.O. Plenty

June 04, 2002 05:33PM
When I was a youngster we rode the D&RGW Rocky trip in 1956 and rode into Silverton. There was an old prospector type fellow hanging around chatting with tourists, and my folks said his name was B.O. Plenty, cause he never liked to take baths.
In my dads old footage there is maybe 15 seconds of him standing next to a K-28 talking to some woman.
My question is...does anyone else out there know of this guy, and this nickname, or is it possible my folks were making this up. Am sure some of the older guys on this list may know something, or some of the D&S boys may have heard stories of this charactor. It would interesting to know if this was railroad lore or what!
On another note, Silverton sure looked like a sleepy little town in 1956.
