Two of our Railway Circle members here in North Wales at our Christmas Party showed a 45 minute cab video of the ascent of the JingPeng pass in China which was steam worked by American sized 2-10-2s until a couple of years ago. (you will understand that this trip never happened and this video does not exist ;-)). This pass was probably the World's last regular 'big steam' working.
Interestingly, although the locos have mechanical stokers a human stoker is also carried who watches the fairly constantly and makes good any holes by manually shovelling coal.
