I think the only ballast the Rio Grande narrow gauge had on the R.O.W. was locomotive cinders. I don't recall seeing a picture showing large rock ballast. Maybe some one else has different information.

C&TS track is in better condition, level wise, than the D&S. The ride is much smoother. I do not mean the D&S track is un-safe, It just doesn't have as smooth a ride as C&TS.

Not long ago I can remember the C&TS cars really rockin and rollin.
