Indio just seemed too far to go for difficult shooting at best, in an area I'm barely familiar with, so I settled for Cajon and Victorville. IIRC, even San Timoteo Canyon is getting built up - and if it's still a two-lane road shooting at more than one location would have been tough; the engine would have been drifting downgrade anyway.

I was poking up out of the sunroof of a silver-gray Ford Escape - the one with a couple of home-made C&TS '40th Anniversary' stickers on its backside and one small 'New Orleans Daylight' on the bumper ...

Hi, Dennis -
I hope you got some good shots between Indio and Beaumont - and better than mine at Blue Cut (aka 'The Narrows')! Please post a.s.a.p.

p.s. Rattie has the C&TS 40th Anniversary DVD almost done, but there's some awful cater-wailin' by some weird guy singin' about foamites at the end that he needs to cut; the #315 DVD youse guys did is SUPER!! Have you seen the rough draft of the other C&TS video yet?
