Much has been learned since RGS Story VII has been published (some helpful notes here also) and a few first-train photos have been found. These have confirmed that both NML #6 and #7 (Lima #1062 & 1063)arrives at the beginning of the work of construction at McPhee. But big changes had been done to the appearance of the engines. Both received rebuilds with new electric systems and headlights. Most notiable is the air tanks from the running boards were moved to the side of the coal bunker on top of the tender. #7 had a flatter curved cab roof that #6, but both not original major curve radius roofs.
Therefore, the photo on page 225 of RGSS-VII is only representative of moving log camps on the NMLCo. using the log bunks cars, as the photo was on the Rio Grande & Southwestern out of El Vado. Author is responsible for the caption which did not say it was above McPhee for that suspicion.
Keep digging for correction, every note helps.
