I finally found some B&W pics and a bit more of the history surrounding this train. The book I've got describes this as a "miniature railroad" but lists the rails as "near 34 inches apart." It also doesn't look terribly miniature, so we're working on approximates in that regard.
The book talks about the owner sometimes having to take two or three runs to pull the hills. It also notes that he relaid the tracks a few times to work different pits. And by 1923, both this and "the dinky train" apparently were out of commission.
