Per Davenport 12th edition (c. 1927) catalog, with with 7x12 cylinders the locomotive should weigh about 10 tons, if so it would be rated at 27 tons of tractive effort on a 4% grade, and 21 tons on a 5% grade... and 158 tons on level track...
Assuming a 2 ton carrying capacity car weighs 2 tons, totalling 4 tons, and 5 cars plus a "coal car" we can assume that the locomotive was rated to haul the train at up to a 4% grade and might be able to handle 5%... noting that boiler pressure is likely higher in 1927....
