Old time seniority

May 11, 2011 07:21PM
C.A. Kellogg was No. 13 on the 1937 engineers' seniority list based on an engineers' seniority date of 7-4-1905. If his fireman's date of 3-26-1898 were used, he would be No. 5.
That was a situation the rail unions fought to eliminate. Now no one can be promoted to locomotive engineer ahead of someone hired ahead of them.
