Please compare the thickness of the outside face of the driver tires in these photos from 1941 and 1948 respectively (pasted here for easier viewing). #346’s tires
were turned down between 1941 and 1946. The 1948 photo also clearly shows the half flanges on the #2 and #3 sets, which the 1941 photo clearly does not.

We all remember what the difference is between a fairy tale and a story told by an old railroader, the fairy tale begins with “Once upon a time”, and the RR story begins with “This ain’t no bulls—t.”
Sorry to upset anyone’s apple cart. My intention was not that, but to bring to light what seems to be a heretofore unknown piece of narrow gauge history. Isn’t that what we are here for?
