I recall reading that the pipe would be left at Carbon Jct. when it arrived from Chama and the crew would then head to Dgo for the night, then head to Farmington the next morning. After the round trip the emptys and whatever goods that were heading east would leave the next day for Chama. In the Green Frog Video "Twilight on the N.G." It shows the 487 heading to Carbon Jct. from Dgo with just a flat loaded with a new tractor and a caboose. They do a flying switch when they get to the junction and couple up to the manifest that is already there.
