There has been a good bit of state-side interest in what the Wales folks have been doing with new motive power and rolling stock. They do some beautiful work. A few of the WW&F guys have been over to see the FRR and the WHR.
Regarding a new locomotive for the WW&F, the shop crew has a plan (a bit down the track) to build a new 2-4-4T forney along the lines of the original #7 which was a Baldwin product of 1906. The new engine will be numbered 11 and a few parts have already been cast. The parts were made when similar parts were being made for other projects such as #9s rebuild. Number 9, an 0-4-4T built in 1891 is in the midst of a complete rebuild. The engine last steamed in 1933 and is the only surviving two foot locomotive built by the Portland Company. The restoration began 4 years ago and may be complete sometime next year. Work on #11 will ramp up once #9 is in steam.
