Both #100 and Davenport #101 were equipped with left-hand drive. It's been suggested that they may have been ordered that way to accomodate operation on the dual-gauge track in South Baker. Operationally I can't see that it would have made all that much difference however. With regard to certifying operators, I completely agree. There's been some interesting discussion lately on the "critterslist" regarding how to shift gears under momentum with this type of unit. It's probably going to take a bit of experimentation.
