I was there in October 1985 and we shot the biggest train of the year which according to then GM Dan Ranger. There were something like 20-22
cars and it was of course doubleheaded. It struggeled at times!!!
Your figures of 36,000 riders is interesting. I multiplied the number by your $14.00 per ticket price and it equals $504,000. Not a lot when you consider all the buses, the engine maintenance, advertising, and salaries.
I remember someone out there told me that Kyle made around $50,000 profit in a good year.

PS Your $14.00 fare makes me think that the trip from Chama-Cumbres and back must have been less than $10.00 in 1971 when we rode that one and one across the whole line. Perhaps it was $5.00 Chama-Cumbres???
