Wayne, Thank you very much for this posting. The lettering that's visible in your photo, and which you quoted, is what I was trying to read and photograph when my wife and I were in Gato in 1999. I tried to describe it in an early posting in reply to John's post about Gato and Gomez. I used the term "carriages"; I didn't recall that the word actually was "buggies".
IIRC, the house at the left of your photo is just about where Gomez' granddaughter's double wide trailer was located when I knocked on its front door, so perhaps that house might be Reuben Gomez' home?
