The problem is not that the show shed was torn down, the worst problem is since the shed was torn down the State historic folks apparently won't let anyone rebuild it because it would be a "recreation" and not real history. There is some silly academic thing about common folks getting confused because they don't know what is "real" (preserved) and what is recreated. Even though some "preserved" originals hardly have any original fabric in them.
My guess is with a bit of effort we could raise the money to rebuilt the showshed. The question is would the bureaucats let us. Whenever I raised this issue with the Friends the answer they won't let us. But maybe someone needs to ask.....a press the issue.
