I also questioned this seller. He gave me the same story that the 482 was fitted with a standard gauge boiler and outside frame, maybe, so the Baldwin stamping was correct for a standard gauge engine. No way!
He also said you could see where the bolts had been screwed down marking the plate and bending it, and the plate was concave to fit around the smoke box, duh.
Maybe this is the plate that Earl says was missing in the sixties. He could have stamped the numbers from another plate. Most replicas never get the numbers stamped on the back. I think this guy is in over his head and has to go along with his claim of genuine.Somebody who is an E-Bay member should contact them and they will remove the item.
Earl, do you know who the detail parts mfg. was?
